I’ve written and published over 35 books in fiction and nonfiction, for adults and children. Presently, I’m working on a series of mini books (60-90 pages) about climate change.

Why I Wrote the Book That Everyone Needs to Read
It began innocently.
“Why don’t you write food blogs for AFL,” Marge Mendel, my friend and fellow author suggested.
It was a great idea. I could write about my favorite eats and not have to count a single calorie. Cholesterol, fat, and guilt-laden goodies filled my imagination like potato chips and M&Ms.
My first blogs were about chocolate and coffee.
Then I discovered bigger fish to fry.
Look out the window. It’s too hot! Seas are rising and severe weather events have become normal. Polar ice is melting, animals are going extinct, and there are mega droughts and summer hail storms. Siberia, Alaska, and the Amazon is on fire.
People are suffering from climate anxiety.
The Orange Man in the White House says it’s a hoax.
You know better.
Take a deep breath. Midwest farms are flooded out, fish are filled with plastic, and there are record temperatures all over the world. Weeds, pests, and bugs thrive in the heat, new viruses are emerging, and climate change is threatening everything from coffee and chocolate to wine.
According to Jay Inslee, Washington State Governor, “We are the first generation to feel the impact of climate change, and the last generation that can do something about it.”
Our dinner plates are in danger. I named my book the same as my first AFL blog on the subject: Is Your Wonton Soup Endangered? I plunged deeper into the science of Earth’s new reality. Vice President Al Gore called it “The Inconvenient Truth.”
The Orange Man in the White House boasted that “global warming is based on faulty science and manipulated data . . . the new name used by liberals.”
Mr. Trump doubled down – withdrew from the Paris Agreements, refused to deal with plastic pollution, polar melt, and greenhouse gas emissions. He made sure that critical regulations protecting clean water, air, and soil were overturned and the coal and oil industries were supported.
The summer of 2019, France reported temperatures of 114 degrees and South Jersey hit a heat index of 118 degrees. Nearly two million acres burned in U.S. western wildfires, glaciers in Alaska are melting 100 times faster than predicted, and TV weather forecasters now regularly report on soaring carbon levels.
You can’t find anyone (except our President and his cronies) who say that things have not changed.
I had to take my research and put it in a mini book that everyone can understand – explain why nearly 97% of global climate scientists believe in climate change.
Deny the deniers.
Is Your Wonton Soup Endangered? is an act of love for Earth and the human species; a story of today and what will happen tomorrow if we remain indifferent.
It’s also a story of hope and possibility.
Prince Charles, the next King of England, said that “the next 18 months will decide our ability to keep climate change to survivable levels.”
That’s why I wrote the book that everyone needs to read. I priced it as low as Amazon would allow, in both print and eBook, to get the word out. There’s no age limit – it’s filled with interviews from John, age 12 and Fern, age 70 to Shari, age 24 and Herbert, age 93. I speak to any person, group, or organization that will listen.
We need to understand what’s happening around us – from millennials to baby boomers and our kids to our grandkids. Everyone needs to have hope that we can make a difference.
Even the smallest changes are critical. If everyone cuts back on plastics, the science of biodegradables will thrive. If everyone prioritizes plant-based foods perhaps they’ll stop destroying Earth-saving rainforests to increase farm land. If everyone supports and elects leaders that care more about people and the planet than counting votes and corporate donations, then that can change too.
Be part of the solution!
